Bokeh and Snow

Took a photo of the snow falling in front of my porch light.  I love the bubble bokeh and how the snow is in streaks.  I added the concrete texture to give it a lunar feeling.  I really love this one.

Amber Abstract Sky

I've got a thing going with taking photos of puffs and wisps of clouds against blue skies and then manipulating them.  It will be interesting to see where this takes me.  Here's my latest.  It's all gold and amber and the sky is a weird blue-green.  I like the little hints of pink in the center too.

The Waiting is the Hardest Part ...

A little nod to film noir.  Inspired by ellebea's Operator print.  The Snow Doggy card by hhop reminded me of Central Park in the winter and I just took it from there.  A broken heart in a fancy New York penthouse.  I wish I could still wear the ultra sexy dress by melissatabor (those days are over!).

Blackberry Chic - Etsy Treasury

My second treasury today.  I saw the beaded earrings by Balanced and they were my original inspiration.  I also really like the black cable knit ceramic dishes by reshapestudio.  The origami curve tunic by isabelamyo, the hunk of purple ring by MidwestAlchemy, that lava and amethyst necklace from Greece by sunsan -- okay, let's be honest, I want all of it.

With Cayenne Spice - Etsy Treasury

Just put together a spicy, fun treasury.  I'm loving the earrings by ThePeachTree, the pretty vintage bonbon bowl by GloamingDesigns and the Namaste print by lindawoods

Oh and thank you to my friend lillyella for her help with this post!

I'm a sucky blogger apparently.

Why do I have this blog?  I always forget about it.  Must do something about that.  Maybe tomorrow.

Pink Japanese Puff

I've been meaning to get a photo of this strange tree for a while now.  Thankfully, I brought my camera out yesterday morning and caught it in the sunlight and before Hurricane Earl sends it flying.  Took a lot of googling and questioning my gardening mom before we finally figured out that this is a Japanese Silk Tree.  It has flowers and pods and fern-like leaves.  Very cool.

Spill the Wine ...

My latest Etsy Treasury -- http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4c69bc1c5bf38eefacc2ad9c/spill-the-wine?index=25

I could feel hot flames of fire roaring at my back

As she disappeared, but soon she returned

In her hand was a bottle of wine, in the other, a glass

She poured some of the wine from the bottle into the glass

And raised it to her lips

And just before she drank it, she said:

Spill the wine and take that pearl, Spill the wine and take that pearl

Spill the wine and take that pearl, Spill the wine and take that pearl

My latest addition to my shop: Time to Go Home

I have a thing for taking photos of humans from the back.  I like that you can feel their expressions rather than relying on looking at their faces or in their eyes.  This is one of my favorites.

Teach Your Children -- New Etsy Treasury

I don't think artists who draw or paint or take photographs, etc. get enough exposure.  I decided to do an art gallery featuring children.

Art House Co-Op Weekly Project

Got this project yesterday and it seemed so silly that I had to do it.  I didn't want to just stand there like a dope and I wanted the representation of my pants to be something other than I'm just too lazy to get dressed, so voila!  I actually do yoga so it's not a total lie.

The info to participate in this project is below my photo.  Give it a shot if you're so inclined.

Pictures of Pants!

For this weekly project we want everyone to take pictures of people and their pants! It can be you, your friends, your family, whoever! We don't want to see anything over the waist!

Why Pants?

We think your pants can say a lot about who you are. So for this weekly project we want pictures of everyone wearing their pants! We will post all of them we get back on our blog!

How should the photo be taken?

No faces, just pants!

Submit your project!

While the goal of the Weekly Project is to kick-start your own creativity, they are also inspiring when viewed as a collective whole. Please send us images, anecdotes, sketches, or even a full out case study of your completed project to us!

Please send images to weeklyproject@arthousecoop.com and be sure to include your Art House username so we can give you credit!

We'll post as many of them as we can to our blog each week!

Spring, Sprang, Sprung!

I love going through the Etsy shops, picking a theme, and then arranging items in a treasury.  It's more difficult than you might think.  I sometimes go through several themes, picking one up and discarding another, before I see the finished collage in front of me.

My current treasury began with a photo of an old Schwinn bike seat and grew from there.  Have a look and let me know what you think.

Kitty

So tall he can pull stuff off the kitchen counters, leaves fluff balls all over the house, attacks my mother by ambushing her and grabbing her around the legs, thinks he's a dog and is in love with my dog.  We love him.

Playing Around

I've been experimenting with my photos a bit lately.  I was hesitant at first because I felt like manipulation of the photo, the moment caught, was somehow wrong.  Well, I guess I worked through my issues, because now I'm finding all sorts of cool ways to change the mood or vibe of certain shots.  I like this one in particular, my newest.

Oh, and I was listening to this version of "Bad" by U2 while working on this particular shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPyhYczii8I

Available on Etsy.  See my sidebar for shop info.

My Latest Treasury: City Confidential

Take a trek through the city and look at things from a different point of view. Do you see the beauty in the metal and the wires and the stone? Can you see the sparkle and symmetry of the windows in the high-rises? I see rock and roll in the manhole covers and history in the gargoyles and bricks. Just look around you. It's everywhere.

Special thanks to my friend at DirksenDabbles for the tips on how to post a full treasury.  Worked like a charm.  You rock!
